TIGERS
Presented by Antonis Pantelaios, B2
The tiger (female) or the tiger (male) is a carnivorous mammal of the
feline family, of which it is the largest and most powerful member. The species
has the scientific name Panthera tigris,
it responds exclusively to the Asian continent and is divided into 9
subspecies, 3 of which are considered extinct.
The tiger, one of the few animals of the so-called Charismatic Megafauna, is one of the most recognizable species in
the world, with the characteristic pattern of vertical, dark streaks on a
red-orange substrate on its upper surface and its lighter lower surface of her
body. It is the largest species of "cat", reaching a total body
length of up to 3.3 meters and weighing up to 306 kg. It has extremely large
canines, the largest of the feline with a mill height of 74.5 to 90 mm.
