THE MOON

By Evanthia Billi C' 3

The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. At about one-quarter the diameter of Earth, it is the fifth largest satellite in the Solar System overall, and larger than any known dwarf planet. The Moon is a planetary-mass object that formed a differentiated rocky body, making it a satellite planet under the geophysical definitions of the term. The most widely accepted origin explanation posits that the Moon formed about 4.51 billion years ago, not long after Earth, out of the debris from a giant impact between the planet and a hypothesized Mars-sized body called Theia.

Presented by Anna Tryfona, B5

Queen Olga's House: This house is located in Thessaloniki. It used to be inhabited by some Jews but now it is not inhabited since it is in ruins. Much has been said about this building as if anyone stays there at night hears voices and noises and then runs away. They say that when someone passes by they run the risk of going crazy and even dying.

LET'S READ!

CHARLIE AND
THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY  ROALD DAHL
WRITTEN BY MS. A. KARAVAS, ENGLISH TEACHER

Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic children's book about five kids who win a chance to tour Willy Wonka's mysterious candy-making operation. It's a vividly told wild ride with amusing, cartoon-like sketches that will keep kids excited and laughing. Various forms of bad behavior are demonstrated -- but the punishments perfectly fit the crimes.

A FILM REVIEW

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Written by Cleo Samaltani C’4

The British wizard and “magizoologist” Newt Scamander, now becomes the hero of the new movie, a spin-off of the Harry Potter film series, (produced and written by J. K. Rowling, in her screenwriting debut, and inspired by her book of the same name), and which will be completed in five films. In the first of these- New York 1926- is upset by the presence of a dark force that threatens to reveal the secret society of the Magi to ordinary mortals. (Did the powerful evil wizard Grindelwald have a role in all this?)

The young Newton arrives in town with a suitcase full of magical creatures, some of which are released and accentuates the ever more intense chaos. So good and bad Magicians, innocent Muggles (non-magical people) and strange beings entangled in an adventure that reproduce all the “harrypotter” spectacle recipe, romance, emotion and suspense, with background nostalgic, jazz New York thirties. A plot that has it all: tested narrative tricks, lovable characters and simple, but successful overthrows, with direct or indirect socio-political references: from tolerance to diversity, to contemporary "war on terror", to Nazi (and neo-Nazi) threat.
